Article Abstract:
The Federal Maritime Commission formed a Working Group on the Regulatory Environment in response to Pres George Bush's call for all federal agencies to evaluate existing regulations and relieve industries of the burdens of obsolete requirements. Although the commission eliminated some regulations, it also gave signs that new ones will be enacted. Customs brokers license: challenging adverse decisions
Article Abstract:
Individuals aspiring to become licensed US customs brokers will find that securing a license does not come easily. Aside from other qualifications such as age and citizenship, applicants must pass an examination by at least 75 percent. The Oct 1991 exam results had only 12 percent passing applicants. However, a passing grade does not automatically qualify an applicant to a license. A background investigation must still be conducted to confirm the applicant's eligibility. Ultimately, it is the US Customs Service that holds the decision on whether to allow or refuse a license to an applicant.
