Architects worried by harsh interpretation of Warne
Article Abstract:
A letter from the Scottish Office's deputy director of the building directorate, Alastair Wylie has alarmed architects with its hard line on the issue of registration of the profession. Wylie reiterates the recommendations of the Warne report that architects should be de-registered and states that architects are no longer pre-eminent in the construction industry. The letter is regarded as a more honest interpretation of the Warne report than that given by politicians and will be used to boost the campaign for retention of registration.

Profession divided by its reactions to implications of Warne Report
Article Abstract:
The architectural profession reacts to the government's decision to adopt the recommendations of the Warne Report on the education and registration of architects. Royal Institute of British Architects officials believe the removal of legal protection for the title 'architect' will do no harm but others fear its effects on the education system. The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors sees little danger of building surveyors calling themselves architects.
