Armies and arms
Article Abstract:
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has been affected by a reduction in European and US defense spending, and a widening gap between higher spending in the US than in Europe. The US is increasing spending on electronics and communications. There have been disagreements within NATO on a requirement to boost sending on air-to-ground surveillance. National constraints have hindered cooperation in some areas, for example over defense against missiles.
