Tracking Asia's consumers by class, not culture
Article Abstract:
Most consumer behavior studies in Asia focus on classifying consumers by culture. Given the increased and diversified spending habits of Asians, such a culture-based classification has become inappropriate. To effectively track Asian consumer habits, it is advisable to classify consumers based on social class. Using such a classification, Asians exhibit several buying commonalities, namely, preference for brand-name products and the use of purchasing behavior as an expression of identity.

Asia's evasive fund networks
Article Abstract:
Hundi, Pakistan's money transferring system, allows for the transfer of funds without a paper trail that can be scrutinized and controlled by independent agencies or sources. Officials in Washington, D.C. and their allies believe that the funneling of the Islamic charitable funds to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network works in a similar way. The article details the workings of these kinds of money transfer systems.
