Parties in flux
Article Abstract:
Thailand's political parties need to reorganize structurally and replenish coffers depleted by the Mar 1992 election if they hope to post strong showings in the next polls. Chart Thai, Samakkhi Tham and the New Aspiration Party all need to build up and field candidates who would be acceptable to the citizenry, since the voters may no longer be persuaded to vote for party candidates through money politics. Th Democrat Party's more stable foothold may be reinforced if it coalesces with other parties to propel Chuan Leekpai to the premiership.
