Asian executives poll
Article Abstract:
Asian executives surveyed overwhelmingly agree Asian values differ from Western ones, and most think these 'significantly' enhance Asia's economic development. A plurality expect no war to break out in Asia in 1996, though India-Pakistan is picked as the likeliest site if armed conflict does erupt. About 60%, and all executives in Taiwan, predict Hong Kong's position as a financial center will erode after 1997, while only 10% expect it to expand. In Hong Kong itself, 40% see it diminishing and 20% growing.

The Asian enterprise; history and the Review
Article Abstract:
The past half-century has seen Asia rise to economic power, accompanied by the Far Eastern Economic Review, the true chronicle of that great tale. The virtues of thrift, risk-taking, and hard work laid the foundation for this growth, and the rejection of communism in favor of capitalism has gone with it hand-in-hand. Over the coming year the Review will profile its readers, who as business and govt leaders, educators and artists, lead and sustain that dynamic growth and give it a uniquely Asian cast.

Telling Asia's story
Article Abstract:
The Far Eastern Economic Review, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, was founded at a time when Asia was not regarded as a coherent region. However, the magazine's founders possessed great vision, and believed that it would be valuable to look closely at political, financial and industrial developments in the region. Their faith in the future prosperity of Asia has since proved to be more than justified.
