Concrete proposals
Article Abstract:
Concrete was used by the Romans and the Egyptians at the time of the pyramids, but this material also offers possibilities as a construction materail for the future. Concrete is made by mixing coarse and fine aggregates with cement. Carbon fiber can be added and this boosts the electrical conductivity of concrete. Smart concrete can function as a sensor and a structural material. Concrete can also be used to detect earthquake, and there are even proposals for concrete submarines.

Blair's baby
Article Abstract:
The British prime minister, Tony Blair, is promoting the Millennium Dome by the river Thames in London, England. Some $1.23 billion has been spent on the Dome, and the government claims that this will help to regenerate the river. The river has had less importance in London's economy since the 1950s, but there have been a number of projects linking the river with London as a whole. The river is more accessible and cleaner, with an increase in wildlife, even seals.
