Riding on handover hopes
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong investment advisers are optimistic of the country's economic prospects after its return to Chinese sovereignty. Some advisers predict that the Hang Seng Index will register an 11.5% average increase in 1997 since money continues to pour into the country. Advisers attribute the continued health of the Hang Seng Index to the underexposure of the financial institutions to foreign loans and the growth prospects streaming from its future integration to China.
