Asian small-cap stock funds a show plenty of pep
Article Abstract:
Asian small-capitalization stock funds are outperforming their larger counterparts. Thornton Little Dragon Fund and the Guinness Flight Asian Smaller Fund, two-cap Asian funds, has returns of more than 14% so far in 1997, compared with an average return of 3.9% for asian equity funds from Jan. 1 and early June 1997, according to Micropal Asia Ltd. Big-capitalization funds are posting little returns because of foreign investors who are selling due to fears of economic slowdowns and bad property loans.

Fund managers worry that Wall Street could be skittish: U.S. stocks are overvalued, some say, while Europe, Hong Kong and Latin America are alluring
Article Abstract:
Fund managers and strategists are cautioning investors against getting carried away by the continued strong performance of the US stock market. Many of them are already reducing their positions in American stocks, believing that the market is overvalued and could easily get spooked. Experts are preferring European stocks instead because the region is in the early stages of economic recovery. They also view Hong Kong and Latin American stocks favorably.
