Tesco PLC of the United Kingdom has a projected sales increase of 9.7 percent from last year and in foreign markets sales are expected to increase by 26 percent. However, shares are trading near a 52-week low. The British retailer is one of the few major market share competitors for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Tesco PLC of the United Kingdom net profit for 2005 rose 17 percent to 1.57 billion Pounds from 1.34 billion Pounds last year. Revenue flows were due in part to sales and lease backs of real estate assets. Sales rose 13 percent to 41.82 billion Pounds from 37.1 billion Pounds last year.
