Attitudes and work motivation of subgroups of seasonal hotel workers
Article Abstract:
A striking feature of hotels in the UK, particularly in the seasonal seaside sector, is labor turnover. The relationship between job satisfaction and job mobility is complicated and could not be properly accounted for by traditional theories of motivation. Hackman and Oldham's job diagnostic survey was conducted among 163 hotel workers to study the effect of individual work differences on job attitudes. The characterization into residential status and work preference could help explain work attitudes and motivation better.
