Article Abstract:
The board of directors of OMV, the Austrian energy and chemicals group, has been authorised to negotiate with Austrian and foreign firms about a partnership in the gas sector. Reportedly there is disagreement within the board whether to team up with a domestic or foreign partner. Among Austrian companies, EVN, Oberosterreichische Ferngas, Steirische Ferngas and Wiengas are seen as potential partners for OMV. The foreign ones include Bayernwerk/PreussenElektra and Wingas of Germany, Gaz de France, and Snam of Italy.
