Austria: Rise in temporary work

Article Abstract:

The year 2001 has seen a rise in temporary workers and their attributed institutions. During the year 2000, job agencies provided 30,120 workers with employment. Foror the year 2001 this figure has risen by more than 10%, to 33,156. In comparison to the year 2000, the number of job agencies and the number of temporary workers employed by firms grew in the year 2001. From 1 January 2001, amendments to communal taxation laws will result in less costs being borne by the job agency, and greater costs being absorbed by temporary workers thus making temporary work more attractive for the economy.

AUSTRIA: CIGAR SALES IN 2000

Article Abstract:

In year 2000 about 52.4mn cigars were sold in Austria, up from a low of 27.7mn in 1994. 20% of the 319 different cigars sold in Austria come from Cuba.
