Aventis moves to accept sweetened bid by Sanofi

Pharmaceutical company Aventis prepares to accept a takeover bid from rival Sanofi-Synthelabo after negotiating to improve on the original offer. Novartis, which announced it was prepared to merge with Aventis, failed to make a bid.
