BANGALORE TO HAVE INDIA'S FIRST ECO-PARK
Article Abstract:
Bangalore city is to have the India's first ecology park, designed to treat industrial waste, soon. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will set up the park in Bangalore's industrial suburb of Peenya. The park will have a reference laboratory for the treatment of industrial smoke, an eco-museum and an environment exhibition. KSPCB has sanctioned Rs1 crore for the park project. (gs)

Rs5,480-Cr PLAN OUTLAY FOR AP
Article Abstract:
The National Planning Commission has approved the Rs5,480-crore plan for Andhra Pradesh for the year 1999-2000. This is 53 percent more than the plan outlay in the past two years. This increase in plan outlay in the last two years was unprecedented in both the country and the state. The plan has allocated Rs133 crore for accelerated irrigation development programmes. (vsm)
