BSE GETS SEBI NOD FOR COUNTRY'S SECOND DEPOSITORY
Article Abstract:
The Bombay Stock Exchange has been given permission by the Securities and Exchange Board of India to set up the Central Depository Services Ltd (CDSL), India's second depository. It is being co-promoted by Bank of India and Bank of Baroda. Housing Development Finance Corporation, Unit Trust of India and the State Bank of India are expected to participate in the depository at a later stage. CDSL is thinking of keeping its charges below that of the National Securities Depository Ltd in order to attract larger volumes. (khr)

HPCL FORMS NEW CO FOR OIL EXPLORATION
Article Abstract:
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has set up a new company called Prize Petroleum to undertake oil exploration and production in India and abroad. It will have an initial equity of Rs20 crore, with HPCL holding a 50 percent stake while the rest will be held by financial institutions. The equity capital of the company will be increased to Rs120 crore within a year and then to Rs1000 crore in 10-15 years. (khr)
