BT to acquire 20% of ImpSat in move to Latin America

British Telecommunications PLC (BT) has reached an agreement to purchase ImpSat, a telecom carrier which serves the Latin American region. BT is acquiring ImpSat for 90 million pound sterling ($146.4 million). The move represents BT's first entry into the Latin American market. ImpSat provides services to major cities in Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela. ImpSat has yearly revenues of about $200 million.
