Badly sold: privatization
Article Abstract:
Privatization is unpopular among both the Conservative and Labor parties of Britain, and the public is ambivalent as well. One reason is that the benefits of privatization take time to manifest. Three other factors explaining privatization's unpopularity are discussed.

The end of privatisation?
Article Abstract:
The Labor government in Britain has attacked privatization as short-sighted and greedy but irreversible and is seeking to replace it by some form of public-private partnership. Privatization is not popular in the UK even though it has been economically successful.

The United Kingdom is creating a new single financial regulator, which it calls the New Regulatory Organization (NewRO). Although the new agency seems more logical, it will house the jumble of units it was formed to replace.
