Barbecues
Article Abstract:
Barbecues are an outdoor activity affected by the weather with regional climatic variations having an effect on barbecue habits according to a survey. Garden ownership however, is not a major factor in holding barbecues, although an outdoor area of some type is a prerequisite. There was a 38% rise in barbecue sales between 1991 and 1996, although the growth in sales of barbecue fuels, such as charcoal, have only risen 5%, due to the popularity of the gas barbecue. Companies such as Landmann Ltd, Black Knight Barbecues Ltd, Frank Odell Ltd and Kirklees Developments Ltd offer a wide range of both traditional and gas barbecues, but manufacturers do not undertake much above the line advertising in traditional media. Ownership levels and the future of the industry are discussed.
