Bass reiterates its commitment to Czech brewery
Article Abstract:
Bass International PLC has recently raised its interest in Prazske Pivovary AS to stress its commitment to the Czech beer market. Bass's stake in Prazske Pivovary, the No. 3 brewing company in the Czech Republic in terms of production, now stands at 66.7% from 55%. The UK-based company's Czech brewery reported a loss of 345.2 million koruna, or $11.9 million, in the first three quarters of 1998, three times higher than the 115-million-koruna posted by the brewery in the same year-ago period. But Bass remains positive that its Czech brewery will be able to overcome a domestic recession, price war and debt and return to profitability.
