Article Abstract:
China officials have been strict on the media, having summoned 150 media bureaucrats and editors to Beijing in order to warn them not to stray away from what the party dictates. The two points of focus for which these pressures are being exerted are the coming entry into the World Trade Organization, and the congress of the communist elite for the coming year. The leadership is determined to remain in control of these two events.
