Benchmarks for shop scheduling problems
Article Abstract:
A set of 600 test problems for minimizing makespan and maximum lateness in three different shop environments is presented. The set of standard benchmarking problems for shop scheduling problems with due dates is considerably larger than previous sets and contains large problems with different routing structures and may be useful in computing performance of algorithms for shop scheduling problems.

Reduction of job-shop problems to flow-shop problems with precedence constraints
Article Abstract:
An analysis of job-shop problem reveals that minimizing the maximum completion time of jobs involves computing the problem as a flow-shop problem with precedence constraints and then modifying a set of flow-shop algorithms. Evaluation of the results against 3040 problems shows that the problems appear to be very promising for job-shop problems with 'flow-like' characteristics.
