Benckiser applies niche strategy
Article Abstract:
Benckiser NV, based in the Netherlands, believes it can keep its leading position by focusing on its long-term strategy of entering emerging markets, including Russia and China. The company hopes to achieve this with one of its lower-end products, the bargain laundry detergent, which is now largely applied to handwash clothes. Although it controls a commanding leads in many of its niche markets, Benckiser must weigh its steps carefully because of the presence of tough competitors in niche markets that eventually get saturated.
