Bevan's baby hits middle age
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS) is cost-effective compared with the US healthcare system, but there are problems such as delays in treatment and lack of accountability among physicians. There are also concern about NHS finances at a time when more expensive treatments are available and the population is ageing. The NHS was initially over its budget, and the government thought that costs would fall after the backlog eased, but this has not been the case. Charges and rationing in the NHS are two issues that have to be tackled.
