The revolutionary spirit
Article Abstract:
Companies world wide are using US methods of management. This includes Daimler, which has stressed stockholder value and become DaimlerChrysler, while Michelin plans to shed labor, despite having strong profits. General Electric boss, Jack Welch, is respected by fellow businessmen. He became boss in 1981 and the company's revenues have since quadrupled, while there has been a thirtyfold increase in its stock price. Fashions come and go in business management, and there are concerns that the US economy and stock market are overheated. Welch has shown that adaptability and speed are important. There are some problems that face US companies, such as excessive regulation and poor results from the educational system.
