Birmingham takes Las Vegas shuttle

UK's Birmingham International Airport will replace its MAGLEV system with the CABLE Liner Shuttle from DCC - Doppelmayr Cable Car for transporting people between passenger terminals and the airport's rail station. The CABLE Liner Shuttle would have two trains, with two carriages each, and can convey 1,490 passengers per hour, at speeds of up to 10 m/s. Total journey time from the airport to the rail station would be less than two minutes.

LFV invests US$720m in Stockholm Arlanda
Article Abstract:
Luftfartsverket (LFV) of Sweden is set to undergo a construction project at the Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Sweden, later in 1999. The effort, which calls for the construction of all existing terminals, new facilities between existing terminals and a new terminal, will cost LFV SKr6 billion ($720 million) by 2002. The project is imperative to satisfy the Schengen agreement and the requirements of the new worldwide airline alliances.

Patria Vammas sweeps up in Sweden
Article Abstract:
The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration has bought 16 Patria PSB 4500H and SB 4500H airport sweepers from Patria Vammas, which would be used in all major Swedish airports. The airport sweepers are used in clearing ice and snow on airport runways and taxiways and are already being used in airports in Scandinavia and North America. Patria Vammas is also supplying six PSH 5500H units to Detroit Wayne County International Airport.
