The German market for wine
Article Abstract:
The market for wine in Germany was investigated from 1994 to 1998 by conducting a discrete examination of sales through the horeca channel and the retail sector. The retail sector consisted of the still white wine, still rose, still red wine, non-grape wine, sparkling wine and the fortified wine/vermouth. Results show an increase of 3.1% in volume sales of wine through horeca and retail outlets from 1994 to 1998. While the single largest share in value terms was taken by the sparkling wine sector, still white wine remained the most important sector in retail volume terms.
