Blood brothers
Article Abstract:
The management buyout of Grampian Pharmaceuticals for 68 million pounds sterling was the most important transaction in Scotland during 1997 due to the high level of local expertise involved in constructing the deal. Advisers for the deal were McGrigor Donald while the debt provider was the Bank of Scotland. The average size of a Scottish transaction is between 2 million pounds sterling to 15 million pounds sterling, although the Grampian deal shows the trend towards larger value transactions. The majority of venture capital in Scotland is provided by 3i which has had a large presence in the country for many years.
