Lazards laps up the deals
Article Abstract:
Lazard Brothers has recently been involved in several large merger and acquisition deals. The bank has gained a reputation for working as adviser to bidders, but this is not always the case. It is currently advising MCI Communications on its 12.2 billion pounds sterling merger with British Telecommunications, for example, and is also advising Unilever on the sale to ICI of its international speciality chemicals activities for 4.9 billion pounds sterling. It is also working with Granada, which is planning to purchase all the share capital of Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television which it does not already own.

Cars, films and football
Article Abstract:
The automotive sector remains very important for many merger and acquisition advisers in the West Midlands region of the UK. They were involved in several football club flotations in 1997, and also worked with the entertainment and multiplex cinema businesses.
