Beyond the drawing
Article Abstract:
The new software product introduced by Bentley Systems is particularly useful for more substantial projects as it allows all project members to work together. Bentley is very keen to introduce products which help to support the management of projects. The ProjectBank DGN has been set up to manage DGN files on networks and on the Internet. It allows change merging to take pace and alters all files, as they are changed. The software has a history journal which keeps a check of all alterations made to the project. The software may reduce lead times.

Learning from its mistakes: AutoCAD's Release 14 is faster and easier to use than Release 13, and should also be free of the problems that dogged its predecessor
Article Abstract:
AutoDesk is releasing AutoCAD 14, un updated version of AutoCAD 13 CAD system. Release 13 suffered problems, but AutoDesk believes that these have been ironed out. AutoCad will now be much faster and easier to use, and will be targeted at Windows NT and Windows '95 users. The memory footprint has been reduced so that more is available for drawings and speed increases, and several new tools have been developed to enhance users productivity. Text handling has been improved and the DWF file format is fully supported for the Internet.
