Bochemie Group invests in an environmental programme
Article Abstract:
Bochemie Group (BG) (Bohumin, Czech Republic), chemical group, will invest over 115 mil Kc in an environmental programme in 1995-2002. BG's desinfection agent Savo is one of the results of the programme. The agent's desinfection component will change to ordinary cooking salt after its use. BG associates 16 subsidiaries including Permedia (Lublin, Poland). BG's parent firm is Bochemie (Bohumin, Czech Republic), which saw a turnover of 618 mil Kc in 1997, nearly 23% more compared to 1992. Bochemie saw an after-tax profit of 70 mil Kc in 1997. Bochemie exports to Germany, Poland, Slovakia and the Ukraine. BG entered the Polish stock-exchange through Permedia in the middle of 1998.

Titanium white - the queen among pigments
Article Abstract:
Precheza (Prerov, Czech Republic), chemical firm, plans to invest 250-300 mil Kc per year during 1998-2000. About 36% of the sum will be intended for environmental projects. The firm will increase its production volume to 35,000 t of titanium white per year during 1998-2000. About 80% of the firm's total turnover are generated by titanium white, 16% by ferric pigments and the rest by sulphuric acid and other products. The firm exports 80% of its production, mainly to western Europe and Scandinavia. The capacity of the its ferric pigment production is 11,000 t per year. Its majority shareholder is Precolor (Czech Republic), subsidiary of the trade group Agrofert (Prague, Czech Republic).

Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The chemical industry covers about 15% of goods production within all the local processing industry. The Czech chemical industry has about a 0.2-0.3% share in the world-wide turnover in the sector. The plastics and rubber industry have approximately an 11-12% share in the structure of production in the chemical industry. During 1997, the proceeds from industrial activities in the sector increased by 12%, added value by 1.16% and productivity of labour from proceeds in constant prices by 11.4%. The plastics and rubber industries have about a 23% share in the total number of workers in the chemical industry, which is 47,000.
