Not by bread alone
Article Abstract:
Australia's wheat exporters compete globally by focusing intensely on individual markets and tailoring their product to a variety of tastes and uses. Asia consumes about 50% of the country's wheat exports, much of it in the form of noodles made from white wheats. Continuous market research aids the $1.9 billion industry, which exports 80% of its product. The world's first dedicated wheat stockfeed recently joined a list of 40 varieties. Deregulation has helped, and wheat growers receive no subsidies.
