Article Abstract:

A new trade agreement signed between the US and the EU would pave the way for the elimination of remaining trade barriers. The deal covers the testing and certification of a broad range of products such as telecommunications equipment, information technology, electrical appliances, recreational craft, drugs and medical devices. The deal would allow US companies to have their products certified as passing European standards after the goods passed domestic testing and certification. The products can then be sold in the EU without further testing.
