British Airways decides to sell its Qantas stake

As part of a plan to pay down its debt and prepare for possible acquisitions in Europe, British Airways is selling its s take in Australia's Qantas Airways. The British carrier initially paid A$665 million for its share in Qantas in 1993. Its proceeds on the sale of its stake in Qantas , now down to 18.5% from its original 25% stake in the company , will total A$1.1 billion.
