British cool
Article Abstract:
The British pavilion at the Expo 92 in Seville is a prefabricated building using water-cooling to mitigate the high temperature location. The building is designed by Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners. It can take 20,000 people a day through a series of areas. The east side is a water wall through which the public enter the building. Inside are three pods, each enclosing a theatre. The west wall provides mass to help thermal stability and is constructed from steel freight containers filled with water. The other walls are bow-string steel trusses. All building components were shipped from England.

Building with composites
Article Abstract:
Architectural designers are increasing the use of advanced composites which can be used for building purposes. Preformed composites can be used where there is a need for light-weight but strong construction materials, such as cladding or panels. The aerospace industry developed the process of producing strong but light materials which could be used to enhance qualities of materials used under stress, such as on aeroplanes.

Design is the prime stimulus of building
Article Abstract:
The creativity of architects can be the main incentive involved in the construction process and the contributions of designers should not be ignored. Well-planned designs can save construction time and costs, but sometimes those involved in quick-build projects try to skimp the critical design process. Design is essential to the efficiency of building construction.
