British exchange seeks permission from SEC to operate in the U.S

Tradepoint Financial Networks PLC, a London-based stock exchange, is seeking the approval of the US Securities and Exchange Commission to allow brokers and firm's to place orders to trade British stocks directly from the firm's terminals in the US. According to Stephen Wilson, head of commercial development at Tradepoint, the firm is seeking to register as an exchange having a limited volume exemption. Tradepoint Financial suffered a 6.67 million pound sterling loss on ordinary activities in the year ending March 31, 1998, compared with a loss of 6.09 million pound sterling a year earlier.
