CA IB chief is tested early in his new job
Article Abstract:
Vienna, Austria-based CA IB Investmentbank AG chairman Willi Hemetsberger maintained his composure as the firm faces unstable conditions in its niche market, Central and Eastern Europe. The company posted a net loss of $10.9 million in 1997 after its parent Bank Austria Group merged with Creditanstalt Bankverein. A slow down trend is projected for the portfolio investment by foreign investors in the region in the foreseeable future amid the financial crisis in Russia. However, Hemetsberger and his colleagues at the firm pin their hopes on a new wave of foreign direct investment in the nations in Central Europe not directly affected by the financial crisis in Russia.
