CHAMUNDI POWER SEEKS OKAY FOR ALMATTI PHASE 1
Article Abstract:
Chamundi Power has requested the Union ministry of power for permission to start work on the 300 mw phase 1 of the Almatti power project. The project has been delayed due to differences between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh over raising the height of the Almatti dam. Phase 1 of the project does not require the height of the dam to be increased to 524 metres from 519.6 metres. The project will have a total power generation capacity of 1200 mw, from five power houses, at an investment of $1.2 billion. The Central Electricity Authority has already given its in-principle clearance for the project. (khr)
