CITY AHEAD ON THE QUALITY LANE
Article Abstract:
A survey conducted by JD Power and Associates, a leading automotive market research company, has ranked the Honda City as the best quality car on Indian roads. The car, which was launched in February 1998, has topped the quality list with 121 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100V). Daewoo's Cielo has shown a vast improvement with a PP100V of 226 in 1998 compared to 378 PP100V in 1997 while the Maruti Esteem has recorded 380 PP100V. The Fiat Uno has recorded a PP100V of 369 against a PP100V of 299 by the Maruti Zen. (khr)

Mercedes Benz India Ltd (MBIL) has transferred Thomas Weigand, director of marketing, to Germany. He is likely to handle the Daimler Chrysler operations in Germany. Jurgen U Zeigler will replace him. Prakash V Kedar, vice- president of finance and material, is to be transferred to Mumbai. Parande and U Jarosh will be posted in his place. MBIL makes automobiles. (gs)
