JB CHEM NET PROFIT DECLINES 23%

JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals (JBCP) posted a 23 percent drop in net profit to Rs7.75 crore for the first half of 1998-99 (Rs10.07 crore for the first half of 1997-98). Its net sales dropped by eight percent to Rs78.70 crore (Rs85.89 crore). Its interest stood at Rs2.40 crore (Rs2.15 crore) while its depreciation stood at Rs2.38 crore (Rs2.01 crore). JBCPs tax provision stood at Rs15 lakh (Rs23 lakh) JBCPs turnover and profitability was affected by devaluation in the rouble which affected its exports to Russia. (tsm)

Colour Chem has posted a 23 percent decline in net profit to Rs1.42 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 (Rs1.75 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1997). Its sales declined to Rs60.9 crore (Rs79.85 crore). It has posted a net profit of Rs15.45 crore on a turnover of Rs227.5 crore for the nine months ended December 31, 1998. (rk)(m)
