KSEB TO TIE UP WITH CHINESE CO FOR HYDRO POWER PROJECTS
Article Abstract:
The Kerala State Electricity Board is to collaborate with the Hangzhou International Centre on Small Hydro Power (HIC/N-SHP) for setting up 18 hydro power stations, with a total installed capacity of 107 megawatt, in the state. The China Foreign Trade Development and the Xiamen Import-Export Corporation of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation have been identified by HIC/N-SHP to extend credit for the projects. The total credit value for the 18 projects is estimated at over $50 million. The delivery of equipment is scheduled to commence from August 1999 while the projects are expected to be commissioned in the year 2000. (khr)

PHILLIPS CARBON BLACK PLANS UNIT IN LANKA
Article Abstract:
Phillips Carbon Black Ltd of the RPG group plans to set up a 20,000 unit in Sri Lanka with an investment of about Rs75 crore. The RPG group has already acquired two tyre companies near Colombo and the company plans to set up the carbon black facility near those two units. Sri Lanka currently does not have any carbon black unit and all requirements of tyre manufacturers are met through imports. (khr)
