Still smokin'
Article Abstract:
Radio broadcasting has made a comeback in Canada since the CTRC relaxed ownership rules in 1998. Similarly, radio advertising sales are quite sizeable in Canada's top ten markets. Advertising revenues reached C$ 915 million in 1998, improving by 7.8% from 1997 levels. However, media buyers and planners say that consolidation did not translate to savings for the advertisers. Lead times are also large on some radio stations, inventory management poor and the 60-second spot is overpriced.
