Carrier questions: the future of the Royal Navy

Tony Blair's new Labour government must decide whether or not to modernize the Royal Navy's fleet of aircraft carriers. Currently, the Royal Navy has three small carriers that should see service until 2010, but not beyond. UK admirals hope to replace the fleet with a few 40,000-ton ships.
