Article Abstract:

The ComptonVerney house is a house of the early 18th century, which was brought by the Moores in 1993, who had decided to restore it and reinstate its vital collection, as he wanted it to be an exhibition centre of contemporary art. The architect and the collaborator on the exhibition design restored the mansion and it is expected that Compton Verney House will attract at least one-lakh visitors in the first year.

One of the permanent displays at the new European Ornament Gallery of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK, is entitled 'Design and Decoration 1450-1991'. There are extensive sections on architectural ornament, but the display as a whole lacks inspiration, with no reference to the Post-Modern obsession with ornament, for example. The display fails to go much further than the existing reference books.
