The German Bundesbank is refusing to cut interest rates, citing inflationary pressures and high monetary growth. However many economists worldwide are beginning to dispute the long held assumption that there is a direct link between monetary growth and inflation.

US inflation has risen for Mar 2000, and this has led to a drop in stock prices. There is concern that stock prices and the value of the US dollar could fall and inflation could rise. The US Federal Reserve should increase interest rates to control inflation.
