'Champion of architecture' sought as RFAC goes
Article Abstract:
The UK government has announced plans for the creation of a new national group to promote architecture. This group will take over the design-review role of the Royal Fine Art Commission, which will be disbanded. It will receive funding of 1.53 million pounds sterling in 1999. Its other responsibilities will include the grants programme for architecture currently operated by the Arts Council. This development is widely regarded as the most significant that has taken place in architecture in the UK for several decades.
