Chapters Internet has announced its plan to launch a wider range of product category as part of its strategy to take on leading online store Amazon.com. The company has recently introduced video games and electronic products, and will likely follow up with other items such as toys, software and home improvement products. Chapters Internet invested around C$10 million-C$12 million on advertising in 1999, while revenues surpassed C$20 million.

Levi Strauss and Co (Canada) Ltd of Richmond Hill, Ontario, has launched a new marketing campaign to boost its sagging sales. The company, which spent C$3.3 million on advertising in 1998, said it will introduce its biggest promotion and will back it up with product innovations and an increase in budget. Its parent Levi Strauss and Co has reported a drop in overall North American sales from $4.6 billion in 1997 to $3.9 billion in 1998.
