China Eastern's future hinges on vote: shareholders meet to decide on bid by Singapore Air

China National Aviation Holding Co. has announced it intends to make a hostile bid to acquire between 24% and 30% of state-owned China Eastern Airlines Corporation Ltd. if shareholders vote to reject an offer by Singapore Airlines Ltd. and Temasek Holdings Private Ltd. The Singapore-Temasek deal to acquire a 24% stake in China Eastern is valued at HK$7.2 bil, or HK$3.80 per share; China National's hostile bid would be HK$5 per share or higher.
