Oil firms are called to talks on stalled Kashagan project
Article Abstract:
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced a meeting on Jan. 11, 2008 with six foreign petroleum firms to address delays regarding production in the Kashagan oil field. The oil companies involved are Italy's Eni S.p.A., the chief operator of the project, and France's TOTAL S.A., Japan's INPEX Corp., the Netherlands' Royal Dutch-Shell PLC, and American firms ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp. The expected outcome is a change to the production-sharing arrangement allotting more revenue to the Kazakh government, with production beginning in 2011.
