China: free market frenzy
Article Abstract:
China's latest national business plans has targets reaching to the year 2010, with some 18 cities earmarked as pockets of enterprise, where new entrepreneurs will be cultivated and private business encouraged. Foreign participation in certain industries will be encouraged, and there is a lot of potential for small and medium sized companies to supply equipment, according to John Beyer, director of the China-Britain Trade Group. Shanghai is expected to compete with Hong Kong as the world financial capital in the next century.
